National Treasure

A few weeks ago the boys and I walked down the National Mall.

On our way to the Smithsonians, we passed a man pushing a cart full of yogurt cups. He offered us some free yogurt - I of course accepted. I then asked him what was going on . He said they were filming National Treasure two . I then asked about Nicholas Cage and he directed me to where he was.

On the way back home they were still filming so we stopped for another look. By this time the word had spread & there was a much larger crowd.

It's great that I saw the star of Raising Arizona

He still continued even after throwing dirt in his own face and eyes.

The Elephant Walk

Here are the elephants walking down East Capitol Street, around Lincoln Park.

Isaac was old enough to enjoy it this year- He loved seeing the animals outside our condo.

This year they stopped near the park for all the children to enjoy. A week later Daniel is still talking about seeing the elephants and horses.

St. Patrick'a day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The boys demanded waffles so I added some green sprinkles for the special day. Marc thinks I just set a precedent for future waffles - He's probably right.

I should have know something was up when there as a quiet moment with lots of laughing and no crying.

This happened in a matter of minutes.

They are so proud of themselves.

Firemen!!

The nursery from our church meets for playgroup often and this week we were able to visit

Company 18 Firehouse

This was Daniel's favorite part.

The toddlers didn't know what to think of the Fireman's suit.

He then got on the floor and started to crawl - it scared Daniel &

he wanted nothing to do with the firemen after that.

Black History Month in DC

In celebration of Black History month the boys and I visited some important sites in DC.

Here they are on the steps of Fredrick Douglas's house in SE.

We didn't do the inside tour - need there be an explanation?

At the visitors Center Isaac tried to shake hands with Fred.

We then visited the Smithsonian Museum in Anacostia
The Boys loved this hands-on display of paper doll magnets
Hmmm,the Cook boys and paper dolls, you ask?
They were mostly interested in throwing all the magnets on the floor.
The goal always being to destroy!!

A park across the steet could not be passed without some play time

Near our own church is this historic church. You can read about it on the sign.
And no Daniel did not wet his pants that's from his no-spill sippy cup.

Near the Capitol biulding, a few blocks from our house, is another museum for Mr. Douglas
There were many more sites but we'll save them for next Feburary.
